A new retail outlet to be named “Shore” is set to open at the  former “Steamers Traders” premises on the ground floor of  the Windsor Court development on Penarth Esplanade.

The premises have been vacant for some time but have now been leased by a new company Shore Penarth Ltd .

Earlier this year there were reports that the Ludlow Lane retailers Hamptons were planning to acquire the lease on the premises .

Shore Penarth Ltd, however, is an entirely separate entity from Hamptons even though it is run by the same directors – Andrew Bradshaw and Peter Knowles and is registered at the same address as Hamptons .

Peter Knowles: co-owner of Hamptons gift shop and cafe in Penarth

Peter Knowles: co-owner of Hamptons gift shop and cafe in Penarth is also a director of “Shore”

One of the windows of the seafront shop will be entirely taken up by a “Shore” logo and its slogan “Life is better …at the beach”.

Proposals for the exterior signage for the new business have been submitted for planning consent to the Vale of Glamorgan Council .

The new store currently being renovated and painted prior to opening later this month. It will stock a wide range of gifts and accessories.

It’s in case it all goes down the drain, Hampton’s won’t go under. But I guess it’ll sell the same old tripe… Yankee candles or other brands, crap no one really needs but the Ladies of Penarth will want.Good luck chaps. P.s. its such a shame your Christmas decorations for sale have been getting worse these past few years.

I wonder if you ‘kitty litter’ have every decided to open a business in the local area?Maybe, with all your complaining you should open up something and not sell the ‘same old tripe”…..then, and only then can you stick your neck out and disapprove or actually be creative yourself and prove them wrong! I admire anyone who locally decides to make a business for themselves instead of the detritus who are quite happy to sponge off the state.Of course I am not suggesting you do this, but Brits are all to easy to pour scorn on anyone who wants to be self employed and make a living.

Leave those nice chaps from Ludlow Road Lane alone. I meet them regularly out with my dog and they are always very friendly, apart from the grumpy one who is usually grumpy.

  4. Cathy says:

What a load of rubbish. Andy & Peter have done much for business as a whole in Penarth
They are great advocates for small business – neither are grumpy, and I wish them every success I. Their new venture
