Individual lettering spelling out the words “Welcome to Penarth Heights” will be installed on the blank white side wall of No.1 Gibson Way.

Residents and visitors to North Western part of Penarth Heights are to be made to feel even more welcome than they do now .

The developers – Crest Nicholson –  plan to install large signage on the right hand side of the entrance to Phase Two of the development  spelling out the words “Welcome to Penarth Heights “.

The signage will consist of individual letters which will be installed on the right hand (East facing) blank wall of No.1 Gibson Way – the premises currently used by Crest Nicholson as a showroom and sales office for the estate.

The company has now applied to the Vale of Glamorgan Council for planning permission to erect the signage – which it says will be temporary. The application has not yet come before Penarth Town Council.

  3. CelticMan says:

    Penarth Depths!

  4. Gobsmacked says:

How much signage do they need? There are signs for Penarth Heights strewn all over the place, including the flags all along the top of Plassey Square. I hope this is refused as it’s totally unwarranted. The whole development is incongruous enough as it is.

How about sorting-out the roads and pavements around Plassey Square? They are shot to pieces thanks to all the heavy site vehicles passing through. They even make the other roads in Penarth look good.

Have the council got any section 106 money for repairing all the roads and pavements that this development has trashed?

    • Frank Evans says:

Section 106 money?? Skate board park and to help with CEOs salary.
They don’t do roads or pavements in Penarth.

    • Alex says:

I’m sure one of our elected representatives will be along shortly to confirm that funds have been ring-fenced for the much needed repair of Plassey Square.

Maybe Crest could fix the broken flagpole too – looks loose and dangerous.

  5. Diolch says:

Stand by for a huge fuss about it not being in Welsh too.

  6. Eyes and Ears says:

would be nice if they could put some signs up with the street names on rather than Welcome to Penarth heights, someone you know lives here but good luck finding them.

    • Fiona Whitfield says:

ive lived here for 16 months and some Tesco drivers cant find me no satnav no street signs,my relatives cant find me I have to stand on the corner and wave !

  7. Gobsmacked says:

Crest aren’t hanging around and waiting for planning permission – they’ve put the signage up already!
