Another relatively newly-planted sapling in Plymouth Road – near the Job Centre has been snapped and is now lying full length on the pavement.

It’s the latest casualty to affect pavement trees in the Penarth Conservation Area and the second tree in a the same row to be killed off.

The Vale of Glamorgan Council has already been criticised for its failure to replace trees that it’s removed – and had promised Penarth Civic Society it would consult them in future before taking down trees in the area .

It’s not known what the cause was of the damage to the sampling but it’s now resting on the specially-prepared bed of another similar sapling which was sawn down by the council just a couple of yards away.

  1. this boils my blood. There is no need of it. They can do it though because they wont get caught and if they did get caught they wouldn’t get punished

  2. Philip Sky says:

Yes but who planted them in the first place and why there?

  3. Frank Evans says:

I suspect the council would prefer not to have trees in Plymouth Rd due to pavement damage. These were planted haphazardly without spine support and we’re never going to reach maturity. A total waste of money.
