PENARTH MAN WHO DROVE DRUG DEALER IS JAILED

Cardiff Crown Court

Cardiff Crown Court

A 41-year-old Penarth man, Alan Carter of Cowslip Drive, who had been convicted of being concerned in the supply of heroin, has been jailed for 18 months by Cardiff Crown Court.

The court heard that in August last year police in Penarth spotted a car being driven through the town with a known drug dealer travelling as a passenger in it .

The police followed the vehicle until it was abandoned with the two men in it running off . It was later established that the car had been hired by Carter who admitted he had been driving a man who supplied drugs and that he himself was a heroin user.

Counsel for Carter said that he had pleaded guilty at an early stage, that at the time he had been addicted to heroin and that his relationship had recently broken up.

The judge told Carter than the drug dealer couldn’t have operated without his help and that an immediate prison sentence was justified,
