“Rooms” adjoins the award-winning “Restaurant James Sommerin” on the ground fl;oor of the totally re-built premises. The actual number of bookable rooms available in the newly-opened “Rooms” is 9 . They’re available for prices ranging from £150 to £190  a night which includes breakfast and dinner.

Wales on Line quotes James Sommerin as saying : “Opening and running the restaurant has been a lot of hard work but tremendously rewarding. Now we hope to be able to take the diners experience to the next level, offering them not only a wonderful meal but also a relaxing night in this beautiful location on Penarth Esplanade. The Rooms allow diners to enjoy themselves to the max without having to worry about how to get home; it also means that we are able to attract and accommodate guests from further afield.”

    Is there parking?

    • AK says:

      Unrestricted after 6pm till 8am

      • Beryl says:

I suppose that means that if you arrive at your ‘5 star’ hotel on a summer’s day when the front is rammed with cars, you have to lug your case from wherever you can find a space.

      • Penarthal says:

Yes. If you can find a space.

      • Bobby says:

I thought it was 7pm to 10am. Add on the 2 hours that you are allowed to park for means you can leave your car from 5pm to midday which gives plenty of time for an overnight stay at this hotel.

I’ve only eaten in the restaurant a couple of times and the food was excellent; but friends have stayed overnight in the hotel and reported that they had a great stay and the views from the bedrooms are stunning. 5 stars well deserved!!

  2. des lloyd says:

  3. sjleworthy says:

  4. In-The-Know says:

5-star rating, top five-star rating, premier five-star for the Boutique Hotel.
Award-winning Restaurant, diner experience to the next level, wonderful meal, diners to enjoy themselves to the max.. bla bla bla. I think I’m going to be sick.

  5. Jonmartin says:

This is not a hotel per se, as the Wales Tourist Board clearly states – Restaurant with Rooms. I don’t think you can describe this as a “hotel”.

But good luck to them anyway

  6. Jonmartin says:

This is not a five star “hotel”, it’s been rated as a restaurant with rooms, something
    totally different

  7. A local Penarth Resident says:

It would be nice to clear the section in front of the restaurant/rooms of all those cars parked at an angle. It makes the sea front area look horrible.
A drop off pick up area would be fine.
Only disabled parking on the prom the rest** can walk!

** in South Wales are there any cars without a blue badge?

  8. Jackieg says:
