Newly separated Olympic gold medal swimmer Rebecca Adlington has been spotted in Penarth this weekend lunching with fellow Olympic swimmer Tom Haffield.

The 27-year-old swimmer, who earlier this month announced she was splitting up with her husband Harry Needs, was spotted after taking brunch with her friend at the Ocho Coffee Lounge in Windsor Road.

She was wearing a pair of dark jeans, a baggy blue jumper and trainers. Ocho Lounge customers said she was “speaking candidly about her break-up and the stress that it caused her.”

Not that anyone wants to break any confidences or anything, but for those who may want to know exactly what Tom and Rebecca had to eat at Ochos, Tom has obligingly posted a photograph of  his brunch platter on Twitter :-

Tom's tweet included a photo of their food.

Tom’s tweet even included a photo of their food.

Obviously the whole visit was meant to be totally private and confidential. It just so happened that OK magazine and the Daily Mirror somehow got let-in on the ‘secret ‘ assignation.

Rebecca and her husband announced their separation earlier this month saying it was on “amicable terms”

Why is this even mentioned, what she does or doesn’t do is up to her.

Not when it’s published on social media, the minute you do that its is open to anyone and everyone. True, it’s is up to her what she does, but the reporting of it after posting on open social media is not up to her. She can probably thank Tom Haffield for doing that. Why everyone posts their every move on social media is beyond me.

Agreed. I don’t know why people feel compelled to post a picture of what they had for breakfast, but there you are.

  3. LeighA says:

Really can’t see the relevance of this article to the people of Penarth other than some cynical promotion for the Ocho Lounge

I can’t believe Rebecca and Tom chose the Ocho Lounge! It used to be a lovely café. There used to be a table in a corner by the windows, and one could have a cuppa and watch the world go by. Now this table had been replaced by a very narrow bench and, while I can’t be called fat by any imagination, I can only get one cheek on it! The toilets are also in desperate need of attention and the café looks very unloved by its owner/s. I, for one, will go elsewhere in future.

    Did they leave a tip?
