The RNLI has has issued a warning about today’s unusually large – and unusually low – tides.
Penarth lifeboat station has tweeted that this afternoon’s extremely low water will be followed by an exceptional 14 metre high-tide.High water is at 21.30 tonight.
The RNLI says that anyone planning to walk along the shore this evening should take great care not to be cut off by these very big spring tides. There is also a strong on-shore easterly breeze which could bring more large waves onto the Esplanade tonight as it did this morning.
Penarth lifeboat crew were out on a routine training trip this morning (see above) and pounded heavy seas on their way from Cardiff Barrage to Penarth lifeboat station.
