‘None shall sleep‘ – especially in an allegedly-unauthorised bedroom attic dormer conversion – seems to be the message from the Vale of Glamorgan Council .
Yet another Penarth top-floor dormer development has run into trouble with the council planning department
The dormer development overlooks Windsor Road the main thoroughfare into Penarth
This one is at 44 Windsor Road next to the RAFA Club. The Vale council has issued an enforcement order against a large dormer development at the front of the building.
The planning department says the Enforcement Contravention notice has been issued in respect of “Construction of dormer/loft conversion facing street in contravention of planning control.”
The developer could be forced to take down the dormer – in which case the occupants really would be – as Puccini’s aria says – “nella tua fredda stanza, guardi le stelle” (‘in your cold bedroom, watching the stars’).
UPDATE: Later this week the Vale of Glamorgan Council amended its listing and said that there had been no breach and the case had been closed.
