There have been more delays on local railway services this afternoon following an hour-long search for two schoolboys alleged to have been trespassing on the tracks near Cogan station.

Trains travelling between Eastbook and Cogan were held up for an hour whilst South Wales Police and British Transport Police conducted a search for the two boys who had been apparently spotted reaching the railway line at Windsor Road .

Tonight South Wales Police told PDN that that  “Officers apprehended two 13-year-old males who they located within the grounds of the railway line near Cogan at approximately 12.30pm today.  Their detention followed a search by South Wales Police officers who became concerned for the boys’ welfare as the were seen to enter the railway track near Windsor Road.”

The matter is now being investigated by British Transport Police.

Yesterday there were delays on rail services between Penarth and Cardiff because of problems with line-side  equipment – which may have been due to earlier trespassing incidents on the line .
