The Vale of Glamorgan’s planning department has launched an Enforcement Investigation into the re-development of one of the largest houses in Penarth at 80 Victoria Road – opposite Stanwell School.

No 80 Victoria Road is now completely swathed in plastic sheeting. Its integral garage once looked similar to that of the house next door – on the right.

The house can’t now be seen from the road because it is completely enveloped in scaffolding and white plastic safety sheeting .

The Vale of Glamorgan planning officers are investigating an allegation of “Unauthorised development” at the address. In November last year planning permission was granted for a “two storey  extension and modifications to all elevations”.

80 Victoria Road is also the subject of a new planning application - as yet unapproved - for a first floor development above the existing garage.

Last month however a further planning application (above) was made for “First floor bedroom extension above existing garage” .  This latter application is still under consideration .

  1. Eyes and Ears says:

If the building is covered in Sheeting and Scaffolding, how can someone make an allegation of “Unauthorised development”? Are developments checked by building inspectors along the way anyway to make sure that the plans are followed?

  2. Anon says:

Has anyone thought it might be to protect the building whilst the roof is removed and to keep the building dry ! Not a difficult thought process really !

  3. Ivor Bagman says:

    I think that any alteration
    To that property
    Would be an improvement !
