A fishing boat with engine failure has been safely brought to port by Penarth’s Atlantic 85 Lifeboat Maureen Lilian
The boat with the broken-down engine was dragging her anchor and being driven by the tide onto the rocky shore at Lavernock Point in strong Easterly winds
The lifeboat got a tow-line aboard and cast off the ineffective anchor cable and towed the vessel – with two people on board – back to Cardiff Barrage Locks .
At the locks the well-known local trawler Our Louise took over the tow and brough the disabled vessel into Cardiff Bay to be berthed at the Penarth Water Taxi Berth
Coastguards were waiting at the jetty to complete the incident details. Trawler Skipper Roy Gribble said “I was glad to help”.
