The RAF aerobatic team the Red Arrows has cancelled the scheduled flying display due to be held at Barry at noon today .

An announcement from the team said “Very low cloud, drizzle and mist has descended on Barry Island now. I’m very sorry to tell you that we’ve cancelled”.

Some aviation enthusiasts had gathered at vantage points in Penarth – including Penarth Head – in the hope that they would catch a glimpse of the aircraft en route to Barry but were disappointed.

As previously reported by PDN there will be no flying display other than by HM Coastguard and the Police helicopters at this year’s Penarth Summer Festival Carnival Day in the wake of massive cancellations of such events all over the country following the disaster at  Shoreham.
