The six new members of Penarth Town Council staff with councillors who are members of the "Strategic Review Group" - minutes of whose meetings are not available to members of the public

Penarth Town Council has published further details of the six new staff posts it has created – replacing five former staff posts whose holders have left the council  under a severance scheme.

The council says “ 6 new roles have been created” and that “existing roles have been adapted and extended to meet the needs of the council”.

The new members of staff (see photo above) are named as Sacha Mazloom, Louis Grant and Nathan Smith (Duty Officers), Harriet Brewster (Customer Support Officer), Kerry-Leigh Hughes (Finance and HR Officer), Victoria Lawrence (Core Services Manager) and Abby Woods (Civic Support Officer). It’s understood that one of the new members of staff is Welsh-speaking.

Penarth Town Council says ” The changes come after an extensive internal consultation.

[A PDN source claims  that in fact 6 former staff members have left their jobs and did so in protest over  the introduction of the new staff structure – see PDN

Lovely Welsh names one and all!!

I’m sure Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg will be phoning asking for all sorts of information.

PS this amused me from Cymdeithas yr Iaith Gymraeg web site:
“Most councils break (sic the) law by refusing Welsh language swimming lessons.”

What planet are these people on 🙂

I’m fairly sure the organisation would be committing some sort of discriminatory offence if they appointed staff on the basis of the apparent nationality of their surname.

The planet where providing bi-lingual public services in Wales is compulsory due to the Welsh Language Act #justsaying
