Win or lose – the Wales football team’s achievements in the Euro 2016 championships are being represented in tangible form by the Glass by Design studio/shop on Station Approach, Penarth.
Customers are snapping up a wide variety of unique hand-made glass souvenirs as mementos of a terrific Welsh team performance to date and, with luck, perhaps even greater glory to come .
One of the eye-catching items produced for sale is a glass ashtray designed and made by Cathy O’Doherty representing the 11 strong team who’ll be going in to battle against Belgium tonight in the quarter finals.
Glass by Design has also created a themed window display as a tribute to the Welsh team and has a wide variety of other Wales Euro soccer souvenirs available – but they’re selling fast.
The studio is also organising a special Penarth Festival Open Studio Trail for the forthcoming Penarth Festival . It will run from July 15th to 17th inclusive and will include 13 local artists’s studios – showcasing the wide variety of diverse artwork available in Penarth.
Glass by Design has produced a trail map which makes it easy for locals and visitors to find the participating studios which produce ceramics, icon paintings, jewellery, textiles, felt , quilts , oil paintings, pen and ink drawings, watercolours and landscapes…and, of course, glass.
