Despite the gloomy weather, the rain held off and last night’s traditional fireworks display –  which brought down the curtain on this year’s Penarth Summer Festival – was reckoned by many spectators to be the best yet.

Here’s a sample of some of the sights visitors and residents saw from the Esplanade and from every other vantage point in Penarth:-

Was the quietest I had seen it in years down the front in the evening, when we arrived at esplanade after walking 20 minutes from parking, wondered why it was so quiet with no music or people, steward told us music up on cliff,we had to give it a miss,no way my disabled mother could have walked up that hill,& on top of the trek to & from the car..

  2. Daviesgirl3 says:

I agree. I thought it lacked atmosphere without music in the prom.

Dear whingers forum, Another excellent fireworks display and thanks to the organizers for another enjoyable holiday festival, keep up the good work.

Fabulous festival. And great photos by PDN.

    • Janet says:

      Hear, hear!

    • Vanessa says:

For the few who saw it maybe . But why oh why was there no entertainment on the esplanade as there has been in previous years ? There has been a fantastic atmosphere there but not this year . Is it really, as rumoured, due to not wanting to upset THE RESTAURANT ? If so , shame on Penarth council for spoiling the evening for the majority of Penarth residents.

  4. Lindsay says:

“….shame on Penarth council for spooling the evening…”? Without Penarth Town Council there wouldn’t have been an evening! Constructive suggestions are, I’m sure, welcome but let’s keep it in perspective.

well done to all the people who put in lots of hard work, and PDN who published such great photos-thanks to the Flat Holm Society volunteers who said “everyone knows about it” when I suggested they should publicise the Westward Ho Ferry now stopping at Penarth Pier!. Procession was great but we need something with the “wow” factor-where is the Vulcan bomber when you need it!

Another great Penarth Festival, we really appreciate all the hard work that goes into making it happen each year. Short video of the day http://youtu.be/UHRNlw3VD_E
