Police at the scene outside Greggs Penarth where a Honda Jazz hatchback appeared to have been rear-ended by another vehicle and pushed onto the pavement

Police were called to Windsor Road, Penarth tonight after a Honda Jazz hatchback ended up on the pavement outside Greggs after possibly being struck in the rear by another vehicle.

The Honda was being driven by an elderly lady and had one passenger. Neither was injured .

One witness said that the Honda had reversed into something – struck it – and then lurched forward at speed across the pavement almost ramming the shopfront. At this point it was claimed a women  in another car had seized the ignition keys of the Honda but this has not been confirmed by police.

Further information on the incident is awaited.

    The Honda was pulling into a space outside The Bear’s Head, mounted the curb and on leaving the curb, the lady hit the accelerator and crashed into a VW Beetle and then slowly crossed the road, mounted the pavement and struck the wall by the cash machine.
