A crowd of passengers was waiting on Penarth Pier this morning to take today's cruise on board Balmoral to Watchet in Somerset

The excursion cruise ship M.V.Balmoral  arrived on schedule at Penarth Pier this afternoon embark a large complement of passengers from Penarth for a cruise to Watchet in Somerset – signalling the ship’s return to service in the Bristol Channel.

Balmoral has been visiting several other ports around Britain since May – since she last called at Penarth, her “home port”.

Today scores of people were waiting on Penarth Pier to board her for a cruise to Watchet in Somerset – the first time for many years there’s been a cruise to the little West Country port – where the local council had helpfully dredged  the sea bed of the harbour to provide sufficient depth of water for Balmoral to visit .

Balmoral now has a full schedule of sailings from Penarth Pier through until the end of September . Details are on

    Waverley is always in the west of Scotland in the summer months. She’ll be here in early September, and you can find the timetable on their website.
