With just two days to go before the opening of the Paralympic games in  Rio de Janeiro, Welsh Conservative leader and Penarth AM Andrew RT Davies has issued a good luck message to all the athletes from Wales and Team GB.

The AM for South Wales Central constituency- which includes Penarth – says “Following a hugely successful Olympics, I am sure our Paralympians can’t wait to get started – and on behalf of the Welsh Conservatives I would like to wish all 26 Welsh athletes taking part in the Rio Games the very best of luck.

Mr Davies went on to say “Team GB’s performance in the 2012 Paralympics was truly outstanding and it is pleasing to see our team heading to Rio gearing up to beat the medal count they achieved in London. After two weeks of Olympic withdrawal symptoms, we look forward to proudly cheering on the athletes once again, in an event which is sure to foster a love of sport, competition and bravery.”

“Being a Paralympian is an extraordinary achievement; one which takes an extra measure of guts and determination and a lot of the athletes arriving in Rio would have overcome many difficulties in their quest for gold proving an inspiration for us all.”

Is para short for paranoid. In, I think I’ve been misclasified? S4 swimming rather than S5 swimming I won’t stand a chance in this wheelchair.
Good luck to them all none the less.

Good luck to all our team. Four years or more of getting up on cold winters mornings, lots of sacrifice both personal and physical and all for a few seconds or minutes activity. Brilliant!!
