The excursion ship “Balmoral” – now back from Scotland – is due to perform the  final sailings of the 2016 season from Penarth Pier this weekend.

Balmoral has been carrying out  a short season of sailings on the Clyde and had been was delayed on her return voyage from Scotland back to the Bristol Channel yesterday  – which meant that scheduled day-time sailings had had to be cancelled.

Thank you for these lovely dawn and darkness pictures of the Balmoral. I like the sound of that ‘jazz cruise’!

Enjoyed watching Balmoral arrive at the Pier this morning-the weather has not been kind to them this “summer”-also saw the Flat Holm “Westward Ho” Ferry which instead of “waiting off” as it did last time the arrivals coincided seemed to sail off towards the barrage lock gates.

  3. Old sea dog says:

It was a bit of a lumpy sail over to Ilfracombe yesterday – quite exciting with waves breaking over the bow; my favourite type of sailing weather!

Not quite enough to need the shutters on the windows but I’m sure not far off.

The coastal cruise was cancelled and the time ashore cut short due to the weather conditions, then a bit of wallowing around on the way home again.
