A few days ago James Sommerin’s “restaurant James Sommerin” on Penarth Esplanade was named by the AA as the best restaurant in Wales – but now the restaurateur  has won what’s reckoned to be the ultimate foodie accolade – a Michelin Star .

Mr Sommerin had received a coveted Michelin star earlier in his career when he was executive chef at The Crown in Whitebook near Monmouth  – however this new Michelin star is purely for his Restaurant James Sommerin on Penarth Esplanade .

Today Mr Sommerin said “ I really can’t believe what’s happened . It’s  very hard to put into words but this is a dream come true. I would like to thank all our family and staff for all their help in making this possible, a big thank you to Michelin and lastly a huge thank you to all our diners as with out all of you it really wouldn’t be possible. I’m feeling very overwhelmed and a little lost for words…”

Only last week Sommerin received the title “AA Restaurant of the Year – Wales 2016-2017” for his Penarth restaurant and  earlier this summer had also been named Best In Wales for third year running by the Good Food Guide 2017.
