A new exclusive hotel is to be created within the re-built £8,000,000 Beachcliff complex on Penarth Esplanade.
The planned new hotel is part of a portfolio of three developments being undertaken by well-known property developer Richard Hayward and his property group, which will complete the occupation of the Beachcliff complex.
The first unit of the new triple-development – the premium bakery and cafe [the name has not yet been chosen] – is aiming to become Penarth’s equivalent of Fortnum & Mason.
It will be opening early in the New Year and will be run by experienced master baker and pastry chef Pascal Fleurette who headed-up research and development for Avana Bakeries.
The Hayward Group is already advertising for the 20 staff it will require to operate the new business and – now that the fit out of the premises is virtually complete – plans to open it early in the New Year. [Anyone interested in joining the team can call Julie at RH Property on 01633682882].
On the ground-floor next to the Michelin Star Restaurant James Sommerin there is to be a top-of-the-range ice cream parlour…. Next door to that will be the entrance to the new top-flight hotel …. and next door to that (as revealed by PDN earlier this month) there is to be the brand new bakery, patiserrie and cafe.
On the first and upper floors, adjacent to the existing and successful Rooms James Sommerin boutique hotel (which occupies the central section of Beachcliff) it’s planned to create a new superlative luxury hotel, with a private bar, within the north wing of Beachcliff with the aim of its becoming “the best hotel anywhere in the Cardiff area – and probably the best in Wales”.
The new ice-cream parlour and the top-flight hotel development will follow the launch of the bakery and cafe in a phased sequence.
Richard Hayward himself – who lives in Penarth – is now fully fit again, having recovered from a serious illness which had recently laid him low.
He is also celebrating having lost several stone in weight, is back behind the handlebars of his fearsome motorbike, and is pressing on with several simultaneous developments undertaken by his Newport-based property group in various parts of the country.
