Megan Hitchen of Stanwell School will be in the All Wales Final of “FutureChef”

A 13 year old Penarth schoolgirl who loves cooking – Megan Hitchen – has won her way through to the All Wales Finals of the Springboard FutureChef competition.

More than 8,000 young cooks across the UK are taking part in the UK-wide contest – motto “Cook Up a Storm in the Classroom” – which is designed to promote culinary skills in schools.

Megan attends Stanwell Secondary School in Penarth .

In the first stage of the competition she had to cook a 1-course meal with a budget of up to £5 .

In the second stage, the bar was raised to cooking a 2-course meal for 2 people with a hot main course – challenge which Megan took in her stride and which the judges praised.

Now she’s lined up to take part in the All Wales Final – and if she wins her way through that, she could be in with a  shot at the UK National Final next year .
