ABANDONED CLIFF HILL FORD FOCUS PUZZLES PASSERS-BY

The Ford car was left projecting out into the road at an odd angle.

Local residents were puzzled this morning to find Ford Focus hatchback  projecting at an angle out onto Cliff Hill Road with its rear wing having collided with the stone wall  .

No one appeared to know who the car belonged to and there was no sign of the occupants. but there seemed to be damage to the rear right hand wing of the car where it had hit the stonework.

The rear of the hatchback had hit the stone wall.

The rear of the hatchback had hit the stone wall.

One theory is that the brakes might have failed on the vehicle and the driver had perhaps allowed it to coast backwards and hit the wall rather than gather speed backwards down what is, after all, the Penarth downhill derby course.

Some wondered if the driver might have inadvertently selected the wrong gear when maneuvering out of a parking space ./

An alternative suggestion was that the driver may have attempted to park on Cliff Hill Road in the same tail-in, nose out chevron parking configuration as that on the Esplanade … and somehow failed to notice the  double yellows.

Other passers-by thought car might have been abandoned after an accident
