CHRISTMAS-NIGHT RESCUE BY PENARTH COASTGUARD HELICOPTER

There was a Christmas Night call-out for  Penarth Coastguard Rescue Team – some of them still wearing festive Christmas pyjamas  – to trace a “despondent male ” considered to be vulnerable.

The man was located by the helicopter team in a dangerous position “on the edge of Penarth Cliffs ” .

When the Coastguard rescue team  and South Wales Police officers  reached the location,  the police succesfully  “talked him in” and brought him to safety.  Penarth lifeboat was also placed on standby but did not launch.

Penarth Coastguard –  which, like Penarth lifeboat, is staffed by volunteeers – says that even though it was Christmas Night, they had a full team turn-out – even if some officers turned-up less-than-conventionally dressed .
