Lost Lands Cinema – who held the highly successful open-air screening of “Jaws” on the roof of the Fig Tree restaurant last summer – is returning to the venue to exhibit a further series of films this summer.

In view of the forthcoming closure of the Penarth Pier Pavilion Cinema as from March 6th onwards, the Lost Lands movie-shows at the Fig Tree will provide a welcome fillip to an otherwise  somewhat depleted entertainment scene on the Esplanade in 2017.

Last year Lost Lands’s after-dark cinema show enjoyed  a warm, dry summer evening on the Esplanade which attracted dozens of film-goers to see Jaws –  and at the same time keep a sharp look out at the calm seas offshore.

This year  Lost Lands outdoor cinema will be held above the Fig Tree on 4 weekends commencing on the 12th and 13th of May.

The firm’s advertising says “When it comes to watching a film at the cinema why visit the docile traditional multi screens with their sticky carpets? Come along and spend a summer’s evening up on the roof with a garden bar”  .

The management says “It’s as much about enjoying the environment and atmosphere as it is about the movies being screened”.

cannot see why they don’t do some of these “theme night” at the Pier Cinema-also we must message Liz Burnett-“I am on the Pier with visitors on a pleasant Spring Monday-cafe is closed, the Joe’s kiosk is not yet open-where can we get an ice-cream on the Promenade?”

Excellent suggestion! Add in Paget Rooms and a film festival could create real buzz for young and old
