Welsh-speaking business executive Bill Rees [who as PDN reported last month has been selected as the Welsh Conservative Party candidate for Cardiff South & Penarth for the General Election] – has said his campaign will focus on jobs-growth, getting behind local businesses and making Brexit a success for the constituency .
Mr Rees, who has already begun campaigning in Penarth, says “As your MP, I would use my strong Welsh roots and extensive experience of international business negotiation to get the best possible deal for Cardiff South & Penarth so that the people and businesses here can flourish.”
He says “Only Theresa May offers the country the strong and stable leadership required at this time to get the best possible deal with the EU and new trade deals with new global partners around the world.“
Mr Rees was born and raised on a family-run dairy farm in West Wales and was the first in his family to go to university. He and his wife Jo have two children and he is a fluent Welsh speaker. His mother and sister live in the Vale of Glamorgan – in Barry .
He studied economics at Warwick and Cambridge Universities before working in the city and now heads up a commercial team in the FTSE 100 company Centrica .
