Albert Rd Primary School Penarth
Penarth parents whose children are pupils at Albert Road Primary School have been informed today that Andrew Gilbert has been appointed as the school’s new head teacher.
The appointment is said to have followed “an interview process involving governors, staff, pupils” and representatives of the Vale of Glamorgan Council.
Andrew Gilbert is the new headmaster of Albert Primary School
Mr Gilbert is currently the interim head teacher at Albert Primary and has been combining this role with his post as head teacher at Holton Primary School in Barry. He is also a school inspector with Estyn [the Welsh Government’s schools watchdog] and is a consultant headteacher with the Central South Consortium.
Mr Gilbert succeeds the late Mr Huw Jones whose body was found in the churchyard at St Lawrence’s Church, Fort Road, on February 1st 2017.
Mr Gilbert has said “I am honoured to have been appointed as the new Headteacher of Albert Primary School and am looking forward to working closely with staff, pupils, governors, parents and the community. I am very aware of the many areas of success associated with the school and, in partnership with you all, I wish to continue to build on these. My experiences of being the interim headteacher at Albert Primary confirms what a wonderful group of staff and pupils the school has.”
