PENARTH TRAIN SERVICES BACK TO NORMAL AFTER POINTS FAILURE

A points failure caused the disruption

A points failure  near Cogan affecting the main line between Penarth and Cardiff has resulted in train services in Penarth being cancelled for the entire day.

Replacement bus services were in operation from Penarth Railway Station

Replacement bus services run  by New Adventure Travel were  operated to and from Penarth Station to Cardiff on which rail tickets were valid.

The service was back to normal at 15:00 but some trains were running behind schedule.

    Current status on the Arrive Trains Wales website is as follows;
    Cancellations to services between Penarth and Cardiff Central
    Due to a points failure between Dingle Road and Cardiff Central the line towards Cardiff is blocked. Disruption is expected until 12:30 08/05.

    The tracks on single penarth rail look buckled just before the points. Wasn’t this whole section replaced only a rear or two ago.
