The excursion ship MV Balmoral – after an unscheduled Bank Holiday weekend in dry dock – is now back in business and ready to begin her delayed 2017 Summer season.
The venerable twin-screw motor ship dropped anchor off Penarth at mid-day today after sailing from dry dock in Sharpness this morning where she had undergone minor repairs and calling in at Avonmouth Docks where she was formally recommissioned for passenger service.
She then sprinted at 16 knots across the Channel to anchor off Penarth just after 12:30 today.
Having had to cancel all the sailings which was scheduled to perform on Friday, Saturday, Sunday Monday and today (Tuesday) , she will now start her summer schedule Swansea tomorrow. (Wednesday).
Balmoral will be picking up passengers at Penarth Pier for the first time this year on Thursday June 1st when she’ll be sailing from Penarth to Minehead and Ilfracombe.
