The cruise ship Magellan passed Penarth this weekend – on her way from Newport where she had embarked passengers for a cruise around Great Britain and Ireland with the first port of call being Dublin.
The 46,000 ton ship can carry up to 1,250 passengers accommodated in 726 cabins and cruises at a leisurely 15 knots .
Also this weekend, the cruiser ship Marco Polo returned to Cardiff for her third cruise of the year from the Capital to pick up passengers for a 6 night “Summertime Gardens & River Seine Experience” – calling at St Mary’s, Isles of Scilly, Rouen , Antwerp and Hull .
The next liner to look out for is the Silver Wind – an ultra-luxury mini liner of the Silver Sea Line which carries only about 250 passengers – giving them all the experience of being on a very large private yacht.
PDN sources say she is currently at Londonderry and is reported to be due to call at Cardiff on June 9th- although does not yet appear on the docks movement lists.
Meanwhile the MV Balmoral – after a busy weekend in the Bristol Channel – is en route for Weymouth and will be rounding Land’s End later this morning.
