NEITHER OF PENARTH’S SECONDARY SCHOOLS RATE IN WALES’S TOP 10

A group of top-performing GCSE pupils at Stanwell School

In the annual WalesonLine survey of secondary schools neither Stanwell School nor St Cyres School figure in all-Wales “Top Ten” .

Their standings are based on a raft of comparative data on every school in the country and rank Stanwell School in 13th place and St Cyres at 46th.

 

Stanwell School Penarth – as rated on the “blackboard” of WalesonLine

In 2016 Stanwell scored 76.2 points – but this year Stanwell only managed 70.9. However the school rates the maximum 5 stars and gets 5 stars for Teaching and 5 stars for attendance.

St Cyres Secondary School in Penarth

Now for the figures for St Cyres School:-

The Wales on Line survey’s “blackboard” results for St Cyres ranks it at the 46th place of best schools in Wales and points out it has a financial deficit.

St Cyres school has hauled itself up the ratings from a lowly 119th place in last year’s survey to 46th place this year (out of 210 schools in Wales). Teaching gets 5 stars and overall the school rates 4 stars.

St Cyres (the blue line) did well in last year’s GCSE results, better than the national average ( in yellow) and on par with the average for the other 7 secondary schools in the Vale of Glamorgan.
