A Penarth man has been given bail pending sentencing after pleading guilty to possessing indecent images of children.
James Hemmings (61) of Brockhill Way, has admitted 3 counts of possessing indecent images of children, 1 count of possessing “extreme pornographic images” and 1 count of possessing prohibited images of children.
Hemmings was found to be in breach of a 9 month community order which he was already serving. He has previous convictions for making indecent photos of children and for sexual assault against children.
Newport Court Court heard that – on February 2nd 2017 – 14 “category A” images, 8 “category B” images and 224 “category C” images had been found in his possession.
Judge Thomas Crowther has adjourned sentencing for a pre-sentence report to be prepared and Hemmings was given bail- during which time he is to have no access to any internet-enabled device which does not keep a permanent record of sites visited.
Pending sentence, Hemmings is also ordered to have no unsupervised contact with anyone aged under 16 – except in a “situation that is unavoidable”.
