PENARTH/RHYMNEY RAIL STABBING: 42 YEAR OLD MAN IS CHARGED

The alleged attack happened on the Penarth to Rhymney train  at around 16:00 hours on Friday near Pontottyn

A 42 year old man is to appear in Newport Magistrates Court tomorrow (Monday September 16th) following a stabbing incident on board a train running from Penarth to Rhymney on Friday 

After being arrested and questioned, the man has been charged with  one count of occasioning grievous bodily harm with intent –  and one count of the possession of an offensive weapon.

Another man – aged 39 –  man who was  also arrested in connection with the incident has been now been released from custody and no further action is to be taken against him.

The male victim of the alleged stabbing – who sustained serious wounds to his chest – is said to be in a stable condition in hospital.

Names of the victim and the defendant have not yet been released.
