Vale Parks Department staff installing floral displays on the Esplanade lamp standards today

The sea front and the town centre of Penarth was being smartened up for the summer today by the installation of the traditional floral displays in hanging baskets

On Penarth Esplanade parks department staff sed a hydraulic platform to reach the fixtures on the “Victorian” lampposts which support the baskets along the sea-front.

The flowers have all been specially grown by Vale Parks Department staff

The work is carried out every year by the Vale of Glamorgan Council and this week staff have also been been installing the colourful displays on poles along part of Windsor Road.

The Ocho Lounge has installed its own hanging basket floral displays to augment those of the Vale council

In Penarth Town Centre some retailers – like the Ocho Lounge –  have installed their own floral displays .Outside  Bar 44 there is now a pair of fine shrubs planted in pots. …But alas not all the changes in the town centre have improved the look of Penarth.

Now you see then – now you don’t. It appears there may have been a takeaway from Prezzo

The pair of evergreen potted shrubs which  once gracved the front entrance of  the Prezzo restaurant (which has now closed) have mysteriously disappeared.

PDN – even fooled the observant! … you do realise the handing baskets at Ocho Lounge are artificial. Plastic! Then they don’t need watering! Maybe that’s a plus? Save water.
