The man police want to contact regarding items allegedly stolen from Sainsbury’s supermarket in Windsor Road, Penarth, last month

South Wales Police have issued a CCTV still-frame image of a man they would like to speak to about goods allegedly stolen from Sainsbury’s supermarket in Windsor Road Penarth.

To help the police on this one, shoppers need to cast their minds back eleven days to the time and date when the alleged theft took place  – Sunday June 24th at 16:16.

It’s not easy to keep track of crime in Penarth – but the Sainsbury’s theft was 2 days after the burglary at  Boots the Chemist, Windsor Road  and occurred on the afternoon before the overnight break-in at Specsavers in Windsor Road. There is no suggestion the crimes are connected – apart from the fact that they all took place within the space of 3 days on the same street, in the same town.

If anyone in the town centre a week last Sunday at a quarter past four in the afternoon can recall seeing this man they are asked to call the South Wales Police  on 101 quoting reference 1800230540 . Callers who wish to avoid giving their name can also call “Crimestoppers”  anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Someone also smashed the front window at Cafe Nero as well last week.

  2. Peter Church says:

Ten days to release a photo.
Still I’m glad the chap looks white/British, don’t want these foreign johnnies “living well for less”!
    Isn’t that right Mark 🙂

      • Steven says:

I find that EXTREMELY offensive and HOMOPHOBIC.

      • Racist and Homophobic Mark (aka Mark Foster) says:

Tough. Youse Poms need to repeal the Leon Trotsky Race Laws and you need a First Amendment for Freedom of Speech and “You shall not lie with a male as with a woman. It is an abomination. (Leviticus 18:22)”

    • Frank Evans says:

Thou shalt not speak utter homophobic rubbish (Evans 06:07)

  3. CC says:

Isn’t it time these large companies invest in higher quality CCTV equipment if they are serious about asking the public to help find this person. You already have cctv so for a small investment this would be a far greater deterant.

    • Penarthian says:

      I agree
Lots of the shops who are multi million pound companies don’t even have CCTV and wonder why they get hammered with shoplifters.
      It’s not rocket science!
They need to help themselves sometimes.
It’s demoralising for their staff who have to
      Pick up the pieces afterwards.

  4. John says:

What about the town centre cctv – If it doesn’t help why not, who manages it?

  5. Penarthian says:

The Labour Council manage the CCTV system which doesn’t work

  6. Andrew Worsley says:

Town centre CCTV John ???????????????? lol .. lol ……… lol ……….. lol …….no seriously .. lol ….lol … lol … no be serious lol…. lol ok well break ins galore and the Police ask the public to do a job they are unable to do and yet are paid to do ,and the shoplifter was caught on the shops CCTV otherwise their would be no..image at all , but John the Police are pledged to keep us guessing if any of the towns CCTVs are working so shhhhhhhhhh!! keep it under your hat.

  7. Penileaks says:

The St Fagans pub had to install HD CCTV as part of the conditions of getting the extension of hours recently granted.
It seems that permissions for planning ‘extras’ in Penarth town centre might always have the CCTV requirement added so that the Police can enjoy free access to coverage of the centre with no cost at all.
Saves having to mend/update their semi redundant one I suppose !
