The RNLI’s Atlantic 85 lifeboat Maureen Lilian was called out last night by Milford Haven Coastguard HQ to a casualty vessel that couldn’t have been much closer to the lifeboat station on Penarth Esplanade.

The vessel in trouble was a 35 ft ketch which had embarrassingly run out of fuel just off the lifeboat slipway.

The yacht was towed into Cardiff Bay Barrage locks . The crew of two and their dog were safe and well.
