Penarth’s trio of Christmas trees were being installed by Penarth Council staff on the Town Clock roundabout

Christmas has come extra early for Penarth this year with the trio of Town Clock  roundabout trees being installed a full three days earlier than they were last year.

A start was made on installing the trees yesterday and by today all three town-centre trees were in position – but have yet to be decorated or lit up.

The competition (if there was one) for the first Chrismas Tree to be erected and lit up in Penarth has probably been won – yet again – by The Custom House in Penarth Marina

…Only four more Christmas Trees to decorate after this one

The “Etc” Restaurant in Stanwell Road has again gone all out with its impressive first floor balcony Christmas display .

Completing the finishing touches here required a head for heights as well as some top quality design flair .

The Penarth Christmas Lights have also now been almost completely installed but are not yet illuminated. There are, however, some missing angels who are apparently AWOL outside Wasons and some lighting has yet to go up in Stanwell Road .

The Christmas Lights Switch On – which occurs on Sunday November 18  – is taking place a day earlier than last year’s ceremony – which again may have the effect of stretching the pre Christmas retail period.
